The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santiago thows a body shot but no joy.
DaCola misses with a jab, cross combination.
DaCola looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

DaCola throws a sloppy head kick and Santiago moves out of range easily.
DaCola tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Lola DaCola seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Santiago lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
DaCola connects with a nice looking jab.
It looks like Bobby Santiago has been cut.
Santiago defending well as DaCola loads up on a big left hand.
DaCola will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Santiago counters with a shoot takedown. DaCola fights it but they end up in guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Santiago pushes down on DaCola's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Santiago thows a huge punch but DaCola dodges it nicely.

Santiago working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Santiago is taking a breather. DaCola says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
DaCola is in a horrible position here. Santiago smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
