These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

He tries to recover but Ritch pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Ander is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Horrible takedown by Gragas or perhaps it was just good defense by Assis which made him look bad.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Gragas drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gragas jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Assis not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Gragas should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Watson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Donovan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Donovan fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Donovan throws a lazy uppercut
and Watson makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Watson has hold of Donovan's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Donovan tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Watson cranks the arm and Donovan screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Donovan, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Mason Watson!
