Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Chip Douglas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Cosgrove (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chip Douglas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Shane Cosgrove!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Paul Aken and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Douglas looks for a takedown but Cosgrove sprawls well.

Douglas closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Douglas wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Cosgrove, who protects the arm well.

Douglas tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Douglas has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Cosgrove is trying to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Douglas wants to control but Cosgrove is keeping him busy.
Douglas lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Cosgrove down.

Cosgrove takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Cosgrove really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Douglas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cosgrove can do anything to dispel that myth.

Cosgrove stuffs the takedown.
Douglas dives in and grabs Cosgrove's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cosgrove pushes down on Douglas's head and hops out.

Douglas has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Cosgrove is staying active underneath Douglas, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Douglas is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Cosgrove can do to turn this around?

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Chip Douglas overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Douglas has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Douglas has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Cosgrove's face.
Cosgrove tries to hold on but Douglas pushes him away.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Douglas lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Weyzen fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Machida throws an overhand right that lands on Weyzen's shoulder, as Weyzen tries to avoid the shot.

Weyzen tries to clinch but Machida moves out of range.
Weyzen dodges the punch combination from Machida.
Weyzen defending well as Machida loads up on a big left hand.
Machida throws a head kick that misses.
Machida misses with a double jab
and Weyzen counters with a right hand to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Weyzen counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Machida is breathing heavily.
The fight stays on the outside here - Weyzen looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Crunch! Weyzen slams his shin into Machida's torso.

Machida on the wrong end of a nice hook.

Antonio Machida seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Weyzen wants to clinch up but Machida keeps it at a distance.
Oh Machida is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Machida connects with a high kick.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Weyzen fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Machida to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Machida looks to clinch but Weyzen throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Machida taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!

An out of breath Sydney Weyzen thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
