Vieira stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. OMalley swivels though and keeps the full guard.

and Maximus counters with a nice low kick that buckles Benson's knee momentarily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Maximus enables Benson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Maximus manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Thompson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Zeddy shoots in looking for a takedown. Thompson tries to sprawl out of it but Zeddy keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Thompson manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sorsa throws out a leg kick but Schmelly moves out of range and Sorsa only half commits.
Sorsa fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Schmelly has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Sorsa misses with a body kick.
A thudding body kick lands there by Sorsa!
Schmelly waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Sorsa.

Sorsa moves into range and clinches up with Schmelly.
Schmelly wants a takedown.
Sorsa scores with a nice hook to the head.
Schmelly fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Schmelly tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Pulla Sorsa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Barry Schmelly.

Sorsa controls Schmelly momentarily but Schmelly frees himself.
Sorsa knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Schmelly on the ground.
Sorsa wants to sweep here but Schmelly controlling him for the moment.

Schmelly is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Sorsa rolls with it to try and escape but Schmelly cranks on the arm and Sorsa is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
