The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez blocks a head kick by Vasion.
Vasion looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Vasion throws a body kick, spinning off balance

and Mendez counters with a shoot takedown. Vasion fights it but they end up in guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Vasion can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Mendez controls the pace.
Mendez stands and throws Vasion's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Mendez is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Vasion looks calm but he's in trouble here. Mendez gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Vasion is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Mendez lets go of the hold and Vasion can pop his arm back in it's socket.
