The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arawn slips a jab from Pappas.

Pappas gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Arawn wants a takedown but no success here.

Arawn gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Pappas has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Arawn can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Arawn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pappas swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pappas can do anything to dispel that myth.

Arawn slips nicely into half guard.

Arawn is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Pappas defends it well.
Pappas is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Arawn seems to be looking for submissions.
Pappas tries to get to full guard but Arawn has control of the leg.

Arawn is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Pappas is just riding it out for now. Arawn eventually gives up the hold.

Arawn tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Arawn has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Arawn is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Pappas knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Arawn jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Pappas manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Pappas tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Arawn wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
You can see the frustration on Pappas's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Pappas manages to work his way to half guard, despite Arawn's best efforts.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pappas has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Arawn. Oh but Pappas has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Arawn goes limp - he's gone! Pappas jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
