The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abbot shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Lorenz but Lorenz pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Lorenz throws a right hand that Abbot ducks under and follows up with a left that Abbot also avoids with ease.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Lorenz uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Abbot.
Lorenz throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Abbot pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Abbot moves in looking to clinch but Lorenz pushes him off.

Abbot drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Lorenz preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Lorenz is looking to stand up but Abbot isn't so interested in that idea.
Lorenz utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Abbot pushes down on Lorenz's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Abbot working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Lorenz looks like he's trying to stand up.
Abbot is trying to control the action in half guard but Lorenz is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Lorenz knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Abbot on the ground.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Frank Abbot hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Abbot shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lorenz as he jumps to the side.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lorenz misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

You get the feeling that Lorenz really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Abbot has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Lorenz takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Abbot tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Abbot has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Abbot wants to control but Lorenz is keeping him busy.
Lorenz is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Abbot has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Abbot looks up at the clock and then as Lorenz takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Abbot smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Abbot decides to stand back up. Abbot steps back and let's Lorenz get back to his feet.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Let's hope that Abbot has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

And Know It closes this distance looking for a takedown but Eduardo circles away.

Eduardo lands a nice leg kick that just misses And Know It's sensitive parts.

and Eduardo counters with a good low kick that And Know It was not able to check.

Walker fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Resna really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Walker shoots in looking for a takedown but Resna manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Walker's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Walker tries to clinch but Resna is having none of it.
Walker takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Resna pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Walker back to the cage. Resna follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Resna fails with a takedown attempt.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Resna.
Walker has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Resna swings away with a leg kick that misses.

Walker closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Porter closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Lange's guard.
Porter looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Lange is looking to sinch up a triangle. Porter throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Lange's body to avoid the submission. Lange has instead reached around Porter's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Lange arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Johnson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
You can see the frustration on Landry's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Landry really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
