Undercard bout

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Cristian Rodriguez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Spider Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cristian Rodriguez had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 146.3lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. On his way into the ring it seems that Cristian Rodriguez has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Cristian Rodriguez seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Norris moves in looking to clinch but Staehlin pushes him off.
Staehlin fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Norris has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Staehlin feints and then cracks Norris's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Norris down.

Scene takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Buddhasson bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Scene's head backwards.
Scene has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Buddhasson finds it's way round the side to connect with Scene's head.
Buddhasson misses with a few strikes there.
Scene misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Scene is looking to land body kicks.
Buddhasson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
No joy there for Buddhasson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Buddhasson lands a left and a right that send Scene crashing to the mat, dazed. Buddhasson thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Charlie Scene has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Buddhasson throws a series of punches but Scene moves out of range.
Buddhasson throws a right and a left that both miss.
Scene closes the distance and clinches up with Buddhasson, looking for a takedown. Scene pushes Buddhasson against the ropes but Buddhasson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Buddha Buddhasson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Charlie Scene.
Buddhasson gets in close and tags Scene with a short punch that almost sends Scene to the mat! Oh Scene is in big trouble! He turns his back on Buddhasson, trying to create some distance but Buddhasson rushes him, striking wildly and Scene goes down! The referee tackles Buddhasson into the ropes to end the fight! Buddhasson is one violent man!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Penn stalks Hayl and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Hayl's face. Hayl staggers backwards, shaken.

Hayl throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Penn tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hayl is in Penn's guard.

Penn is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Hayl rolls with it to try and escape but Penn cranks on the arm and Hayl is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Robinson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Fatu's waist but Fatu gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Robinson off to one side.

Fatu gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Robinson is looking to work some ground and pound but Fatu has wrist control.
Robinson stops Fatu from standing up.
Robinson looking to pass the guard.
Fatu keeping moving, preventing Robinson from controlling successfully.
Robinson is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Fatu pushes Robinson off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Robinson throws a series of punches but Fatu avoids them all with ease.

Fatu lands an overhand right.
Fatu lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Robinson circles away quickly and effectively.
Fatu dives in and grabs Robinson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Robinson pushes down on Fatu's head and hops out.
Robinson fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Robinson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.
Fatu wants to break free but Robinson has control.
Robinson goes for a takedown in the clinch but Fatu prevents it.
Solofa Fatu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Robinson.
Fatu wants to stall.
Robinson wants a takedown but no success here.

Fatu is looking to break free of the clinch but Robinson has double underhooks.
Robinson is looking for a takedown up against the ropes. Fatu gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Robinson prevents Fatu from breaking the clinch.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Robinson is looking for a kimura but Fatu is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Robinson to get the leverage.

Robinson is just content to waste time from the top position. Fatu takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Robinson throws a sloppy strike and Fatu has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Robinson is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Fatu!
