The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rizal fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Rizal gets off balance looking for a body kick
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Rizal walks into a straight right hand from Probert.
A big left from Rizal misses.
Probert slips a jab and a cross from Rizal.
Rizal tries to clinch but Probert moves out of range.
Probert scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Rizal doesn't seem bothered though.

Rizal closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Rizal drops back, looking for a kneebar! Probert looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Probert looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Probert!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

OK we're going to have a standup here. Sparky Probert hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Probert fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

That was a close round but I would say that Jose Rizal will probably get the nod.

Probert really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rizal. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sparky Probert decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.

The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Li has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Li and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

No joy there for Cunnings, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Rivera shoots in looking for a takedown. Cunnings tries to sprawl out of it but Rivera keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cunnings manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Cunnings uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Rivera has time to react.
Rivera takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Cunnings, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
