Riley closes this distance looking for a takedown but Maes circles away.

and Riley counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Riley.
Riley tries to land knees in the clinch but Maes avoids the damage to the body.

Riley has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Maes uses from the top position.

Maes has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
