The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Aldo.
Machida misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Machida walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Machida connects with a high kick.

Aldo shoots in but no luck this time.

Aldo shoots for a double leg takedown but Machida sprawls well. He's pushed Aldo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Machida throws a nice looking combination but Aldo bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Machida throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Aldo stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Machida follows into mount!

It looks like Mirko Aldo has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The fighters circle, before Machida throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Aldo's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Machida lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!
