The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zamit uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Regan.
Zamit is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

and Zamit counters with a nice kick to the body.

Regan prevents Zamit from escaping the position.

Regan scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Zamit to see if he's OK.

Zamit tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Regan wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Regan feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Zamits jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Regan enables Zamit to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Regan manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Regan pulls Zamit in close to prevent any damage.
Regan wants to sweep but no luck.
Zamit is looking to stand up but Regan won't let him.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Larry Regan wasn't active enough on the ground.

Regan sends Zamit crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Regan is motioning to the referee to let Zamit up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Dir darts in and clinches Dempsey up against the cage.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Dir.
Dempsey is trying to break the clinch but Dir is controlling him.
Dempsey has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Dir changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Dempsey fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Dir shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Dempsey pinned against the cage. Dempsey gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Jack Dempsey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Haral Dir.
Dir throws a head kick that misses.
