Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mighty Vlad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gabriel Lobo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Lobo's choice of entrance music: Linkin Park_One step Closer. Gabriel Lobo will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vlad doesn't manage to clinch there - Lobo circles away.

Lobo tries to sprawl but Vlad drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Lobo has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Vlad is working away from the top position though.
Vlad is just content to waste time from the top position. Lobo takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Vlad is looking to stand up but Lobo won't let him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Vlad is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Lobo is refusing to be controlled, as Vlad sits in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vlad is really struggling to control Lobo but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Mighty Vlad.
Vlad shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lobo as he jumps to the side.
Lobo slaps away a takedown attempt from Vlad, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Vlad shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lobo as he avoids it easily.

Vlad tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lobo sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Vlad somewhat.

Lobo is trying to get back to full guard.
Vlad wants to control but Lobo is keeping him busy.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Lobo ducks right into an uppercut from Vlad.
Vlad looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Vlad lands a jab-cross combination.
Vlad fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Lobo moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Vlad has worked his arm free - good work by Vlad!

Long swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Mass.
Mass tries to close the distance and clinch but Long swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Mass takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Long is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Mass's half guard.
Mass is not content to let Long control the position.

Long connects with a good right hand that stumbles Mass. Mass circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Long fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Mass looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Mass shoots in for a takedown but Long shows good takedown defense.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Byron Long dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Long closes the distance and lands a one-two.
A right-left combo lands from Long.
Mass shoots for a double leg takedown but Long sprawls well. He's pushed Mass's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Theo Mass seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Long shoots in but Mass avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Mass tries for a takedown but Long sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Mass takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Mass is rocked!
Long circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Mass to the canvas! Mass doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Long keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!

Gomez comes to the cage accompanied by Before I Forget. Kalihib Rdan told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Rdan dives in and grabs Gomez's left leg, looking for a takedown. Gomez pushes down on Rdan's head and hops out.
Gomez throws a series of punches but Rdan moves out of range.

Rdan is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Gomez is just riding it out for now. Rdan eventually gives up the hold.
Gomez flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Horrible takedown by Rdan or perhaps it was just good defense by Gomez which made him look bad.

Gomez cracks a nice hook into Rdan's ribs.
Gomez throws a right hand that Rdan ducks under and follows up with a left that Rdan also avoids with ease.

Rdan takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Gomez lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Gomez throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Rdan stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Gomez is looking to wear down Rdan with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Gomez stalks Rdan and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Rdan's face. Rdan staggers backwards, shaken.

Rdan is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Gomez drops Rdan with a naaaaasty hook - Rdan is in real trouble here! Gomez dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!
