The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ashnault misses with a hook. Monteforte ducked under it nicely.
Monteforte shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Monteforte throws a right and a left that Ashnault avoids nicely.

Hale will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Anthony Skull seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Skull fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Skull walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
A swing and a miss from Hale.
Skull connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Hale tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Skull misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Skull takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Skull throws a leg kick but Hale sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Skull shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hale as he jumps to the side.
Skull bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Skull throws a wild body kick that Hale sees coming a mile off.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Hale crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Skull - the referee stops the clock and Hale gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Skull. Hale manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Skull dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Hale. That did some damage!

It looks like Anthony Skull has been cut.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Skull.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Skull throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hale's waist but Hale gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Skull off to one side.
Brandon Hale has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anthony Skull.
Hale throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Skull sees it coming and avoids it easily.

and Hale counters with a crisp one two that drops Skull! Hale thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Skull to his feet! Skull is in big trouble!

Crack! Hale connects with the perfect overhand right and Skull falls face first to the canvas. Timbeeeeeeeer! Beautiful knockout for Hale!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Horrible takedown by Johnson or perhaps it was just good defense by Kruzov which made him look bad.
