The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

King clinches with his opponent.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jose Rodrigo!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Ryoma Takatsuka and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Musasio lands with a hook. Rodrigo tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Musasio will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Rodrigo takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Rodrigo slips a jab and a cross from Musasio.
Musasio misses with a lunging right hand

and Rodrigo counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Rodrigo postures up and lands a big shot to Musasio's brow.
Rodrigo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Musasio. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Rodrigo lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Musasio is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Rodrigo chips away with some ground and pound.
Rodrigo postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Rodrigo keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Musasio's head.

Musasio has his foot on Rodrigo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rodrigo works his way back into a safe position though.
Rodrigo postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Rodrigo lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Rodrigo makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Rodrigo wants to control from the top but Musasio keeps moving.

Rodrigo with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Musasio pushes a forearm under Rodrigo's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Rodrigo is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
