A bone on bone clash there as Vader blocks the leg kick.
Springs misses with a double jab.

Springs closes the distance and pushes Vader back into the cage.
Vader drops down looking for an ankle pick but Springs pulls his leg out and moves away.
Some wild striking there from Springs.
Springs throws out a leg kick but Vader moves out of range and Springs only half commits.
Springs misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Vader checks a low kick from Springs.
Springs misses with a wild combination.
Springs misses with a lunging right hand

and Vader counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Springs's guard now.

Vader drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Vader jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Vader seems to be working for a kimura but Springs defends the submission attempt.

Well Cent has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Heed throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Shields was covering up waiting for the punch and Heed finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Shields looking for a guillotine here but Heed defends easily.
Shields throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Shields working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Heed.
Heed makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Shields connects with a nice short shot to Heed's temple.

Shields uses his free foot to push down on Heed's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Heed.

Shields is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Heed can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Shields has hold of Heed's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Heed manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Heed wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Green drops back, looking for a kneebar! Monroe looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Monroe looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Monroe!
