Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hasegawa tries for a takedown but Filipo circles away easily
and Filipo counters with a two punch combo.
Nice sprawl there from Filipo as Hasegawa shoots in.
Filipo stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Filipo wants it to stay on the feet.
Sam Filipo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Go Hasegawa.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hasegawa is defended easily by Filipo.

Filipo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Filipo enables Hasegawa to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Filipo manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Hasegawa drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Hasegawa seems to have locked his on tight now - Filipo screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Hasegawa, as he picks up the win!
