The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Smith avoids the body shot from Silva.
Smith uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Silva misses the shot to the body.
Smith misses with a double jab.
Donk. Smith catches Silva right on the button with a cross.
Good standup being displayed there by Smith as he connects with a hook.
Smith lunges at Silva with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Silva's hand.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Silva could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Smith keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Smith throws a right hand that Silva ducks under and follows up with a left that Silva also avoids with ease.
Smith is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Silva had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Silva has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Silva is rocked!

Silva walks straight into a right hand from Smith - that's dropped him! Smith jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Silva from any more punishment! Silva complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Anderson Jones had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 171.1lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight.
