Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Zook was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

New Vages decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
New Vages throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Still in half guard, New Vages seems content to control.
Stoeckel could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Stoeckel is trying to defend against the ground and pound but New Vages scores with a couple of nice shots.
Stoeckel tries to kick New Vages off but New Vages keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. New Vages connects with a nice short shot to Stoeckel's temple.
New Vages looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Stoeckel has hold of New Vages's hands but New Vages slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
New Vages with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
New Vages controlling the position here and throwing strikes from the top. Nice elbow lands there... and another... and another... oh, Stoeckel is out! New Vages gets to his feet and admires his work - nice finish!
