The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz tries to clinch there but Madden circles away.
Madden moves forwards but Diaz connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Nick Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Madden looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Diaz shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Diaz throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Madden is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Madden can't do much from the bottom here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The ground and pound from Diaz seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Madden regains half guard, as Diaz was trying to land strikes.
Diaz is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Diaz looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Madden with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Madden is doing well to control the position and prevent Diaz from advancing to side control.
Madden slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

and Madden decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Diaz's guard.

Madden drops back, looking for a kneebar! Diaz looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Diaz looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Diaz!

Diaz stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Madden throws up his legs and catches Diaz in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Diaz tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Madden! That came out of nowhere!
