The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walsh shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with John but John pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Walsh misses with a takedown attempt - John sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Gerald Walsh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and John counters with a left and a right that stings Walsh.
Walsh shoots in for a takedown but John shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
