Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Yu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Mir might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Spoilin For A Fight . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jack Yu!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Sosuke Kotani and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mir dips to his left and cracks Yu with an uppercut!
Yu fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Mir looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Mir throws a leg kick but Yu checks it.
Yu blocks the body kick.
Mir moves away from the strike by Yu.
Yu lands a nice looking body shot.
Mir on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Jack Yu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mir tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Yu swivels and escapes.
Yu throws a one two combo.

It looks like Frank Mir has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mir uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Yu.
Yu connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Mir dodges the punch combination from Yu.
Mir swings for the body but Yu moves out of range.
Yu misses with a leg kick
and Mir counters with a series of strikes. Yu will be more careful next time no doubt.
Yu throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
No luck for Mir with that takedown attempt.
Mir throws a shot from downtown. Yu moves away and avoids it.

Yu stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Mir. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Yu feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Mirs jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Yu lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Mir looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Yu thows a body shot but no joy.

Mir closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Yu to the mat! Yu manages to get full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mir stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Yu swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Mir looking to sit in guard and control but Yu gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Yu in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Yu with a nice head shot there.

Yu postures up in Mir's guard and throws a big left but Mir blocks it.

Mir working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Yu doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Yu manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Yu has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Mir to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Yu is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Mir pulls down on the head and he's put Yu to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Frank Mir!
Post fight, Frank Mir stared into the camera and said 'My aim in life is to rip off Vangelis Kokkalis ARM!!!!!! Your turn will come!!!! '.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Awa punishes Gilbert's body with a nice straight punch.
Awa lands with a slapping head kick.

It looks like Ian Gilbert has been cut.
Gilbert shoots for a double leg takedown but Awa sprawls well. He's pushed Gilbert's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Awa lands a big head kick that sends Gilbert tumbling to the mat! Awa takes a step backwards and waves Gilbert back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Gilbert is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Awa throws a powerful right kick. Gilbert tried to block low but the kick was high! Gilbert was taken right off of his feet! Awa jumps in to finish the job and the ref tackles him! The fight is over!

Nayama throws a looping overhand right but Do ducks down to avoid it.
Nayama wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Nayama looking to score a takedown here. Do is defending well but Nayama drives through and ends up in Do's guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Nayama pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Do is keeping the position for now.
Nayama wants to control from the top but Do keeps moving.

Do thumps Nayama with a low kick.
Nayama shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Do sprawls well. Do wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Nayama gets slowly back to his feet.
Bruce Do has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yorito Nayama.

Nayama fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Do to the ground. Nayama is now in Do's guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Do is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Do looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Nayama puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Nayama is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nayama seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Do does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Nayama has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Do defend it? Nayama steps over the head and cranks it - Do is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Nayama!

The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Szczakowiecki has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Szczakowiecki and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
