The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gonzales shoots in but Thompson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Gonzales looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Thompson clobbers Gonzales with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Thompson throws a right hand that Gonzales ducks under and follows up with a left that Gonzales also avoids with ease.
Gonzales tries for a takedown but Thompson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Thompson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Oh Gonzales is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Thompson lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Gonzales is looking to close the distance but Thompson sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Gonzales crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Gonzales is OK because that was naaaaaasty!
