We've been hearing reports that Grimwald has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Raging Bull!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cain Velasquez!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Hugh Johnson and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some bone on bone action there as Velasquez checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Bull keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Velasquez has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Bull lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Bull misses with a low kick as Velasquez jumps back.

Velasquez feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
