The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffin misses with a double jab.

Rock looking to score a takedown here. Griffin is defending well but Rock drives through and ends up in Griffin's guard.
Rock wants to get up but he can't break Griffin's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Rock throws a strike but Griffin rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rock wants to take Griffin's back here but Griffin is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

Rock goes for an armbar but Griffin turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Griffin.
Griffin sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Rock's guard.

Still in half guard, Griffin seems content to control.
Rock is looking to improve his position.
Rock manages to get to full guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Rock is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Griffin defends well.

Griffin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rock swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Rock wants to sweep but no luck.
Griffin really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rock. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Peter Griffin wasn't active enough on the ground.

Rock bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Rock is breathing heavily.
Griffin wants to control but Rock postures up.
Rock throws an elbow but Griffin slips to the side and avoids it well.

Rock is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Griffin has escaped the position, nice work there.

Rock tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rock has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
You can see the frustration on Griffin's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Griffin gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Griffin is trying to maintain the position but Rock is very close to passing his half guard.

Griffin is defending against the submission attempts here by Rock.
Griffin tries to roll over but Rock keeps him under control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Rock is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Frankie Rock will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Griffin misses with a double jab.

Griffin feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Rock throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Griffin wants to control from the top but Rock keeps moving.

Rock is looking to cinch up a triangle. Griffin throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Rock's body to avoid the submission. Rock has instead reached around Griffin's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Rock arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Violator is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kirkland's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kirkland's back!
Even with his hooks in, Violator manages to miss with strikes from the back.
Kirkland is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Violator cracks Kirkland with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Kirkland from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
Violator is not going to allow Kirkland to sit and survive in this position.

Violator has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Kirkland has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kirkland looking very determined here, making life difficult for Violator.

Mazzuca walks right into a perfectly timed right hook and goes down hard! He's out cold! The ref cradles Mazzuca limp body while Pozsar jumps on to the cage and waves to the roaring crowd. Wow that was just a brutal knockout!

During a confident post fight interview, Tomi Pozsar thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
