Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Esoj Aicrag!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Aicrag darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Aicrag throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Aicrag scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Aicrag working the head and body with strikes.
Potatos keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Aicrag lands strikes from half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Aicrag blocks the strikes from Potatos.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Potatos flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Aicrag lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Aicrag winds up and cracks Potatos with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Aicrag drops an elbow to the side of Potatos's head.
Aicrag working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Aicrag has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Potatos taking some punishment here, with Aicrag in his half guard.
Aicrag looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Potatos with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Aicrag slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Aicrag cracks Potatos with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Aicrag immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Potatos is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Aicrag!

Crane throws a lazy right hand but Slayer sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Ichabod Crane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Crane shoots in for a double leg but Slayer sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Crane throws a poor cross that misses

and Slayer counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Crane is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Crane looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Slayer being controlled here momentarily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Crane misses with a body shot

so Slayer counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Crane bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Slayer's guard.

Crane tries to free his leg and advance position but Slayer is retaining full guard.
Slayer can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Crane controls the pace.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Crane shoots for a takedown but Slayer saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Slayer wants to get up but he can't break Crane's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Buffy Slayer has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Crane moves to clinch but Slayer breaks away

and Slayer counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Crane has Slayer pulled in close to control his posture.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Crane is on top in guard.
Slayer is looking to stand up but Crane isn't so interested in that idea.
Crane is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

We're going to have a standup here because Ichabod Crane wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Crane catches Slayer with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Horrible takedown by Crane or perhaps it was just good defense by Slayer which made him look bad.

Crane tries to close the distance and clinch up but Slayer swats him away and circles back towards the center.

We've been hearing good reports from Crane's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Buffy Slayer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Crane shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Slayer defends it nicely.

With the fighters up against the cage, Bacca throws an elbow but misses.

Picard is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Bacca to keep the fight standing.

Schwaty shoots for a takedown but Sanchez saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

and Sanchez counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Schwaty!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Schwaty tries to improve position but can't.
Sanchez remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Schwaty wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.

Sanchez takes a little break here. Schwaty wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Sanchez's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Ares Sanchez just wasn't active enough.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Sanchez crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Schwaty - the referee stops the clock and Sanchez gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Schwaty. Sanchez manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Schwaty shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
