Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Christopher Thomas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Birigiz Ignatiev!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Kenichi Hosakawa and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ignatiev throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Thomas shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Christopher Thomas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Thomas shoots for a takedown but Ignatiev saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Ignatiev defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Thomas.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Christopher Thomas. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ignatiev lands a brutal head kick. Thomas looks out on his feet and Ignatiev throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!

With a record of 31 - 25 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Vitor Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Brynden Tully!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gracie clinches up with Tully and pushes him back against the cage.
Tully works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Gracie fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Tully is struggling to control the position.
Tully misses with a punch on the inside.
Gracie has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Tully avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Tully breaks from the clinch.
Tully misses with a looping left.
Tully looks to land a left hand but Gracie moved out of range nicely.
Tully throws a leg kick but Gracie moved away.
Gracie has his takedown stuffed

and Tully counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Tully's coach down at Outer Heaven Dojo - PIT Inc. was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Tully's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vitor Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Tully stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Tully gets underhooks to prevent Gracie's takedown attempt.
Tully doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
The referee calls for Tully to work.
Gracie controlling the action here for a moment.
Gracie goes for a takedown attempt but Tully pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Tully is looking to land body kicks.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gracie fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Tully fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

It looks like Vitor Gracie has been cut.
Gracie looks to clinch
and Tully makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Tully takes the fight into the clinch.
Tully goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Tully is looking to control Gracie's arms but Gracie gets an underhook and turns him. Now Tully has his back to the cage.
Gracie throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Tullys head.
Gracie changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Tully fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Gracie fails to land the takedown.
Tully misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gracie fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Tully avoids it really well and circles away.

Tully lands a left and a right that send Gracie crashing to the mat, dazed. Tully thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Gracie is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Tully stuffs the takedown attempt from Gracie. Gracie gets slowly back to his feet.
Nice uppercut lands for Tully. That snapped Gracie's head back.
Oh Gracie is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Tully misses with the combination.
Tully measures up his opponent and throws a superman punch that connects to the jaw! Down goes Gracie! The ref steps in, and that's the ball game folks!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Brynden Tully!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Severn looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Severn has closed the distance and engaged Sapp in a clinch.
Severn manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

Sapp tightens his grip and picks Severn up, before dumping him to the ground. Severn manages to land in guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Severn bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sapp's guard.
Severn throwing strikes from guard but Sapp blocks nicely.
Severn has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Sapp being controlled here, momentarily.

Sapp preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Severn throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Sapp works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Severn working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Sapp is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Severn throws an elbow that misses. Sapp uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Severn's guard. Nice move by Sapp!
Sapp loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Severn controls Sapp momentarily but Sapp frees himself.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sapp accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Severn tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Sapp postures up in Severn's guard and throws a big left but Severn blocks it.
Sapp trying to control but Severn is working from the bottom.
We've been hearing that Sapp has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Severn wants to sweep here but Sapp controlling him for the moment.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Severn throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Severn looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Severn tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Severn slips a jab from Sapp.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Severn.
Severn uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Sapp.
Severn tried to score with a low kick but Sapp checks it.
Severn ducks right into an uppercut from Sapp.
Severn fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sapp fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Severn moves out of range of the strikes.
Severn lands a high kick!
Severn scoring well with a low kick there.
Severn throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Severn throws a body kick that misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Severn smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Severn on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Sapp throws out a loose jab but Severn uses good head movement to avoid it.
Severn keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Sapp.
Severn feints and then cracks Sapp's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Sapp down.
Sapp tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Sapp throws an off balance right hand
and Severn counters with a flying knee that drops Sapp! Severn dives in and finishes the fight with a flurry of strikes from the mount!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bas Severn!
