Bakkal ducks under a wild hook from The Kid.
Bakkal wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Bakkal.
Bakkal dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on The Kid. That did some damage!
Bakkal throws an uppercut from half a mile away. The Kid sees it coming and avoids it easily.
The Kid takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Bakkal connects with a leg kick. The Kid looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Bakkal closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

The Kid does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Bakkal paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
The Kid's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Bakkal connects with a leg kick. The Kid looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
The Kid is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The Kid takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
The Kid drops his hands momentarily and Bakkal needs no second invitation. He sets himself and throws a perfect high kick, that clips The Kid just on the top of the head. The Kid drops like a sack of potatoes to the canvas, out cold! Oooooooh yeah! Stick a fork in The Kid - he's done!

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick from Masuka lands but Benko takes it in his stride.

It looks like Vojtech Benko has been cut.
Masuka looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Benko is fending him off so far but Masuka persists. Nope, Benko circles away and we're back to standing.
Benko is trying hard to land a takedown here. Masuka sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

and Masuka counters with a nice kick to the body.

Couture uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hartnell.
Hartnell throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Couture moves into the clinch successfully.
Couture lands a nice uppercut.
Couture just leaning against Hartnell, taking a breather.
Hartnell tries to pull guard but Couture holds him up against the cage and eventually Hartnell drops back down to his feet.
Couture is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Hartnell is defending well.
Couture lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Hartnell backwards.
Couture gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Hartnell.
Couture is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Couture trying to control the position from guard on top but Hartnell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hartnell is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Couture pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hartnell is keeping the position for now.
Couture throws a big elbow that misses.
Couture working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Hartnell is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Couture is controlling him.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Couture stands up from Hartnell's guard - Couture perhaps looking for a knockout.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Couture tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Hartnell scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Hartnell throws an off balance right hand
and Couture counters with an outside leg kick.
Hartnell throws out a loose jab but Couture uses good head movement to avoid it.
Couture takes a swing at Hartnell's ribcage but misses.
Hartnell fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Hartnell lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Couture tries to close the distance and clinch but Hartnell swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Hartnell keeps the fight on the outside.
Couture lands a big right hook! Hartnell looks hurt but is still standing! Couture lands a left jab and another right hook! This time Hartnell falls down and Couture dives in with a huge hammer fist! Hartnell's eyes roll back! The referee calls for the bell and Couture runs up the cage to celebrate with his fans!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Brandon Couture!
