The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Perry looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Perry tries to clinch up but Givens circles away and keeps his distance.
Perry feints a jab promting Givens to slip. Perry then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Givens slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

It looks like Patrick Givens has been cut.

Givens throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Perry was covering up waiting for the punch and Givens finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Perry keeping moving, preventing Givens from controlling successfully.
Givens has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
