Maverick tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mahone manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Maverick drops his hands momentarily and Mahone takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Oh Maverick is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Both fighters circling slowly here as the pace drops. Hopefully one of them does someth.. OOOHHHH!!!! Mahone throws an absolute beast of a head kick! Maverick is done! He's out cold, twisted and contorted up against the cage! Wow!

so Schoots counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Schoots trying to control but Slate is working from the bottom.

Schoots postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Slate is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Schoots, into his guard.

Slate wants to stand but Schoots has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Slate avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Slate wants to get up but he can't break Schoots's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Schoots is looking to sweep but instead, Slate has passed into half guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Schoots manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Schoots bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Slate's guard.

Schoots might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Slate haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Schoots drops back, looking for a kneebar! Slate looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Slate looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Slate!
Slate wants to stand but Schoots is controlling his arm.

Schoots tries to bench press Slate off him but Slate keeps the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Schoots manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Schoots makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Schoots.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Slate tries to free his leg and advance position but Schoots is retaining full guard.

Schoots is looking for a triangle but Slate pushes his legs off easily.
Schoots wants to sweep but no luck.

Slate has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Schoots to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Slate is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Schoots pulls down on the head and he's put Slate to sleep! This one is all over!

Meranda shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Santiago napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Meranda is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Santiago is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Meranda has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Santiago is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Meranda yanks on the arm and Santiago is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Meranda.
