Zemli Funtov had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 206.6lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Quinton Xavier Potterswheel will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sheldon Cooper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shaun Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cooper comes into the arena with star trek theme blaring out of the sound system. On his way into the cage it seems that Sheldon Cooper has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Sheldon Cooper seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sheldon Cooper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shaun Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cooper lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Johnson backs up against the cage.
Johnson getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Cooper throws a nice inside leg kick.
Johnson closes the distance and clinches up with Cooper, looking for a takedown. Johnson pushes Cooper against the cage but Cooper circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Cooper takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Johnson avoids the body shot from Cooper.
Johnson connects with a body shot that sends Cooper's belly button to the back.

Johnson tries for a takedown but Cooper sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Cooper enables Johnson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Cooper manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Johnson looking to sit in guard and control but Cooper gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Cooper has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Cooper would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Johnson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Cooper defends well.

Cooper stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Cooper wants it to stay on the feet.
Sheldon Cooper has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shaun Johnson.

Johnson moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Johnson on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Johnson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Cooper tries to bum rush Johnson with a series of wild strikes but Johnson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Johnson shoots in and bounces Cooper off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Johnson told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
Cooper wants to get back to his feet but Johnson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Johnson throws an elbow that misses. Cooper uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Johnson's guard. Nice move by Cooper!

Johnson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Cooper!
