The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hold takes a body punch but keeps moving.
La Gam connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
La Gam throws an overhand right that lands on Hold's shoulder, as Hold tries to avoid the shot.

La Gam sends Hold crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! La Gam is motioning to the referee to let Hold up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

It looks like Tommy Hold has been cut.
Hold could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
La Gam ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Hold's jaw. Hold's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! La Gam does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.

Walden looks for the body kick but Stanley saw that one coming.
Walden pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Stanley avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Stanley takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Walden tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Stanley bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Stanley moves out of range of the strikes.

Walden lands with a kick to the ribs.

Stanley shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Walden's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Walden has his foot on Stanley's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Stanley works his way back into a safe position though.

Walden has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Stanley can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Walden looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Stanley has picked Walden up and slammed him! Walden can't keep hold of the triangle and Stanley manages to pass to side control!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Stanley wants to take a breather but Walden manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Stanley.

Walden throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Stanley escapes and throws Walden's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Stanley wants to lay and pray for a moment but Walden keeps working.
Walden should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Stanley tries to stand but Walden is controlling his head.

Stanley wants to control but Walden is keeping him busy.
Walden can't do much from the bottom here.

Walden tries to lock up and control but Stanley gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Stanley wants to control the pace but Walden is squirming around nicely.
Walden is in all sorts of trouble here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Walden tries to hold on but Stanley pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Thor Walden will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Walden pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Walden is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Stanley.

Stanley closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Walden's guard.

Walden has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Stanley doesn't defend quickly enough and Walden has managed to lock this one up! Can Stanley escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Walden on a fantastic submission victory.

Thor Walden decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.

and Washington counters with a stiff right hand.
Jay Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Washington takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Washington cracks Jones with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! Jones falls to his knees and Washington doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!
