The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hunter moves into the clinch successfully.
Hunter goes for a takedown attempt but Slaughter pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Hunter leaves Slaughter with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Hunter gets the takedown into side control.
Slaughter wants to get back to his feet but Hunter drags him back down.
Hunter sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Slaughter is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Sam Ponjev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Boba Solid!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, David Hoff and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Solid throws a low kick but it's checked well by Ponjev.
Solid cracks the inside of Ponjev's front leg.
Solid throws a quick inside leg kick.
A head kick misses from Solid.
Solid looks to land a body kick but Ponjev moved away.
Boba Solid seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ponjev rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Solid moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Nice straight punches there by Ponjev. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Ponjev.

Ponjev chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Solid can pounce on him.

We've been informed that Solid has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Ponjev is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Ponjev on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Ponjev throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Solid was covering up waiting for the punch and Ponjev finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Solid looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ponjev is one step ahead there.
Ponjev working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Solid's head.
Solid preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Ponjev won't allow Solid to get back to his feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ponjev stands up over Solid, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Solid being controlled here, momentarily.
Ponjev has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Ponjev stands and throws Solid's legs to the side, diving into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Boba Solid dominated that round.
That's time! Ponjev's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Solid connects with a leg kick. Ponjev looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Ponjev closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Solid is looking for a sweep.

Ponjev remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Solid is trying to buck Ponjev off.

Ponjev has an Americana. Solid didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Ponjev is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Ponjev hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
