The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duddy misses with the combination.
Duddy tries to clinch but Kruger is having none of it.
We've been told by Duddy's head coaches at Boomerang!! that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Kruger closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Kruger is looking to take a break and control but Duddy is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Still in half guard, Kruger seems content to control.
Kruger looks to land a strike but Duddy avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Kruger must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Kruger stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Duddy swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kruger looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Duddy misses with a straight left.
Kruger throws a nice inside leg kick.
Duddy takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Kruger scores with a crisp jab that stopped Duddy in his tracks.

Kruger tries to land a front kick but Duddy steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Kruger lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Kruger checks a leg kick nicely.

Duddy tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Kruger manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Oooooh!!! Duddy has knocked Kruger down with a huge combo! Duddy steps away and waves a wobbly Kruger back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Crack! A monster head kick from Duddy and Kruger falls like a tree - timbeeeeeeeeeeerrrr! A highlight reel knockout by Duddy!

Romo throws a hook to the side of Waitzel's head but Waitzel sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Romo throws a series of punches but Waitzel moves out of range.

It looks like John Kyle Romo has been cut.
Romo blocks the body kick.
Waitzel is looking to land body kicks.
Waitzel ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Romo moves away.
Waitzel throws a nice looking combination but Romo bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Waitzel moves out of range of the leg kick from Romo.
Romo dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Waitzel. That did some damage!
Waitzel looks for the body kick but Romo saw that one coming.

Waitzel fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Romo to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Romo looks to clinch but Waitzel throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Romo taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
