Horrible takedown attempt by Preston or perhaps it was just good defense by Lima, which made it look bad.

Preston closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Lima to the mat! Lima manages to get full guard.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Cherry enables Haines to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Cherry manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Haines pushing down on Cherry's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Cherry tries to roll over but Haines keeps him under control.
Cherry is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Nonprofit Vegas Elite $50 ($1000 value), so we'll see if he gets out of it.

Haines manages to capitalize on a mistake by Cherry to take his back!

Haines is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Cherry has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Haines has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Cherry taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Haines doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Burley Haines was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
