The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Hardacre, right into the meat.
Velasquez closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hardacre circles away.
Hardacre swings and misses with a shot to the body

Hardacre lands a nice shot that snaps Velasquez's head back.

We've been told by Hardacre's head coaches at ELITE GYM 40CAP that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A looping hook to the body misses from Hardacre. Velasquez does a little dance to reset his feet.
Hardacre jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Velasquez takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Velasquez shoots in looking for a takedown. Hardacre tries to sprawl out of it but Velasquez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hardacre manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Hardacre is looking to wear down Velasquez with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Damian Hardacre is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Hardacre lands a left and a right that send Velasquez crashing to the mat, dazed. Hardacre thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Cain Velasquez has been cut.
Hardacre throws an uppercut from hell that sends Velasquez clean off his feet! He's out cold! Hardacre stands back and admires his work as he thinks about that KO of the night award that is surely being wrapped up for him back stage.

After the fight, Damian Hardacre was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
