The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valencia dives in for a single leg takedown but Wagner sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Wagner swings wildly with an uppercut but Valencia uses good head movement to avoid it.
Valencia is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Wagner is defending well.
Valencia has Wagner pressed against the cage, preventing Wagner from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Valencia has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Wagner is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
I was talking to Wagner's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Martin complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Jax Martin was interviewed post fight and said 'I still have a lot to learn. I didn't do as well as I would have liked, but I will continue to grow and improve. My manager always says, "If you have 5min to spare, you are far to lazy." I need to be busier.'.
