Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gabriel Carvalho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Jenkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Robert Jenkins!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Leandro Rodrigues and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good work by Carvalho as he checks the leg kick.

Jenkins shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Carvalho is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Jenkins thows a huge punch but Carvalho dodges it nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jenkins seems to be working for a kimura but Carvalho defends the submission attempt.
Carvalho is trying to control but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carvalho controlling the position for now.
Jenkins throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Jenkins has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Jenkins is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Carvalho can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Lorenzo fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Geoffrey has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Pierre lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Toussaint is trying hard to land a takedown here. Pierre sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Pierre feints and then cracks Toussaint's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Toussaint down.

Toussaint will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Overeem crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Callahan - the referee stops the clock and Overeem gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Callahan. Overeem manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
