Kermit Korrales seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

He arrived on a last minute flight shortly after looking tired and unhappy. Officials decided the fight should still take place, much to the delight of the fans in attendance.
Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zeze Berner and Gray Hawkes. Berner comes to the cage accompanied by Breaking stuff. Hawkes has chosen Not Gonna Die as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Berner shoots in and drives through. Hawkes sprawls well.
Hawkes tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Hawkes tries to clinch but Berner moves out of range.
Berner swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Berner darts in and clinches Hawkes up against the cage.

Hawkes escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hawkes steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Berner. That one must have hurt.
Hawkes throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dime misses with a hook

and Beret counters with a head kick that drops Dime to the mat! Dime scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
Jonny Dime seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Beret counters with a thumping low kick.

Horrible takedown attempt by Dime or perhaps it was just good defense by Beret, which made it look bad.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Beret gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Dime to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Beret is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Dime is in close to Beret's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Beret is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Beret will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Beret is adopting a defensive guard.

Dime is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Beret keeping moving, preventing Dime from controlling successfully.
Beret working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Dime.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Dime tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Beret was well out of range. Poor timing from Dime.
Dime goes for a double leg but Beret avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Beret continues to drive forward.

Beret tries to stand but Dime is controlling from the bottom.
Dime is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Beret has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Dime is proving hard to escape from.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Green Beret has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jonny Dime.
Dime throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Dime fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Beret avoids it really well and circles away.
Dime fails with the takedown.
A nice leg kick lands there from Beret.
Dime tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Beret defends well and Dime ends up having to push Beret into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Dime has Beret pressed against the cage, preventing Beret from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Beret manages to break the clinch.
Dime goes for a double leg but Beret avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Beret continues to drive forward.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Green Beret will probably get the nod.
That's time! Beret's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Savea has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Effyew Ceekay throws a punch but it's blocked by Savea.
Savea using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Effyew Ceekay has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Savea wants to stay close but Effyew Ceekay steps back to make room for something. Savea seems frozen to the spot and bam! huge swing of the leg from Effyew Ceekay and Savea drops like he has been shot! A huge head kick and it's all over!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lowe fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Starburst manages to avoid it.
Starburst takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Lowe's corner calls for a 1-2. Lowe obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Lowe has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Starburst.
