The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lao throws a right hand that Mode ducks under and follows up with a left that Mode also avoids with ease.
Lao slaps away a takedown attempt from Mode, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Mode closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Lao to the mat! Lao manages to get full guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Mode is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Lao is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Lao has escaped and now he's on top!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mode is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lao defends well.

Lao got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mode has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lao has managed to get both his arms back between Mode's legs - danger averted.

This one could be over very soon! Lao goes limp - he's gone! Mode jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
