The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flowers shoots in for a takedown but Ale shows good takedown defense.
Flowers tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Ale manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Flowers misses with a body shot
and Flowers takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Ale bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Flowers's head backwards.
Nice uppercut there from Ale.
Flowers shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Flowers on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Flowers throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Flowers shoots in looking for a takedown but Ale manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Flowers's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Joseph Ale has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Petey Flowers.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ale lands a slapping body shot.
Ale darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Flowers should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Ale grits his teeth and throws a big right-left combo! Flowers takes both shots clean on the chin and is out cold! Ale cracks him once more on his way down, as the crowd goes wild! They enjoyed that one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maki moves into the clinch.
Maki misses with some punches.
Maki misses with a hook to the ribs.

McGee breaks the clinch.
McGee shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Maki but Maki pushes him off and we're back to square one.
McGee shoots for a double leg takedown but Maki sprawls well. He's pushed McGee's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
McGee throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Maki's waist but Maki gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McGee off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lennon McGee. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and McGee holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

McGee ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. McGee no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Maki has eaten all the pies!

Let's hope that Maki has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
McGee is in a horrible position here. Maki smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

McGee turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Maki off and cradles McGee's limp body as Maki celebrates with his corner.

Aoki might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Some bone on bone action there as Malone checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Aoki. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Malone escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Aoki connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Malone! He's out on his feet! Aoki rushes in and drops Malone with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!

A relieved looking Shinya Aoki thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
