The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monteban throws a lazy uppercut
and Kearney counters with a right hand to the body.
Kearney throws out a loose jab but Monteban uses good head movement to avoid it.
Monteban is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kearney.
Kearney appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Kearney swings for the body but Monteban moves out of range.
Kearney swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Monteban is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
A combination from Kearney does no damage.
Kearney tries to score with a low kick but Monteban moves his leg out of the way.
Monteban looks to score with a jab to the body but Kearney is just out of range.
Monteban avoids the body shot from Kearney.

Kearney tries to bum rush Monteban with a series of wild strikes but Monteban uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

And Monteban tries to counter it with a takedown but Kearney pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Monteban shoots in but no luck this time.

Monteban bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Kearney tries to escape but Monteban is in control.
Kearney tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Monteban wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Kearney looks to move to half guard but instead Monteban has passed into mount! Damn!
Kearney flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Kearney is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Ground Zero, Las Vegas (LOD), so we'll see if he gets out of it.

Monteban has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Kearney's face.
Kearney tries to buck Monteban off but Monteban takes his back!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kearney is trying to defend against the choke here but Monteban has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Monteban Tightens the hold and Kearney taps out furiously! Monteban displays superior BJJ to win the fight.

Ricardo Monteban tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
