The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Calderwood shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Nicolau sprawls well. Nicolau wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Calderwood gets slowly back to his feet.
As Calderwood tries to get set, Nicolau tries to push him back and clinch up but Calderwood manages to avoid the attempt.

Soares clobbers Javic with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Soares looks to score with a jab to the body but Javic is just out of range.

Tonny Montana has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Andrew Weffart.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Weffart closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Weffart lands in his opponent's guard.

Weffart slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Montana knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Weffart on the ground.
Montana tries to buck Weffart off but Weffart is having none of it.
Weffart sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Montana is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Weffart decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Weffart tries to clinch but Montana moves out of range.

and Weffart takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Weffart rushes Montana and presses him up against the cage.

Weffart breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Montana moves in looking to clinch but Weffart pushes him off.

Weffart is still on wobbly legs! Can Montana finish him?

Weffart tries to clinch but Montana is having none of it.
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Montana has cracked Weffart with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Montana lands another huge swinging hook and Weffart tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Weffart, before Montana can land any more shots!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nuts swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Petterson counters with a left and a right that stings Nuts.
Nuts avoids the head kick by Petterson.
Petterson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Nuts throws a right and a left that both miss.

Petterson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Petterson with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Petterson prevents Nuts from standing back up.

Petterson is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Petterson wants to free his trapped foot but Nuts is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Petterson is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Petterson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Petterson content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Petterson dodges the punch combination from Nuts.
Petterson is looking to counter the offense by Nuts and move into the clinch.
Petterson stuns Nuts with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Petterson misses with the combination.
Nuts misses with a double jab.

Nuts throws a series of punches but Petterson moves out of range.
Nuts tries to bum rush Petterson with a series of wild strikes but Petterson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
No joy there for Nuts, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Nuts looks to land a combination but Petterson avoids it well.

Nuts drops Petterson with a beautiful combination! Petterson stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Nuts is looking for the KO!

Petterson is rocked!

It looks like Brad Petterson has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Petterson shoots in looking for a takedown but Nuts manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Petterson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Oh Petterson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Nuts goes for a small jab and connects. Now Nuts goes in closer pressing the issue. Left hook, right straight! Petterson stumbles back but Nuts runs in with a huge uppercut knocking Petterson to the ground! What a finish! You have to wonder if Petterson will ever be the same after a knockout like that.

Virtanen changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jonson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Virtanen tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Virtanen content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Jonson wants to control but Virtanen postures up.

Virtanen tries to stand but Jonson is controlling his head.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Virtanen closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Virtanen lands in his opponent's guard.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Virtanen wants to stand up but Jonson is controlling the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Virtanen takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Jonson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Jonson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Jonson is breathing heavily.
Jonson looks to land a combination but Virtanen avoids it well.
Virtanen tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Jonson defends well and Virtanen ends up having to push Jonson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Virtanen shoots in and bounces Jonson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Virtanen passes Jonson's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Aamu Virtanen will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Virtanen in particular looking to stall.
Aamu Virtanen has got the better of the ground game so far.
Jonson is trying to control but can't.

Virtanen maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Jonson could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Virtanen has cracked it and Jonson is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Virtanen!
