The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lothbrok lands with a good body shot.
Monty could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Monty takes a swing at Lothbrok's ribcage but misses.

Lothbrok loads up on a big right hand but Monty slips the punch.
Monty takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

It looks like Ragnar Lothbrok has been cut.
Monty moves out of range of the strikes.
Monty misses with a straight right.
Lothbrok lands with a shot to the body.
Lothbrok throws a body shot but no joy.

Monty throws out a powerful jab.
Monty fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Lothbrok manages to avoid it.
Monty misses with a looping right.

That has opened up Ragnar Lothbrok's cut even more.
Monty dodges the punch combination from Lothbrok.
Monty tries to counter by clinching up but Lothbrok breaks away and moves out of range.

Monty rushes Lothbrok and presses him up against the cage.
Lothbrok can't find room to land a body shot as Monty controls the action.

Monty creates some distance for himself and unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Lothbrok's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Lothbrok drops to his knees and Monty pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Guardia wants to lay and pray for a moment but Saejima keeps working.

Guardia is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Saejima doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Guardia.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Guardia is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Gilpho fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Challenger looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

and Gilpho cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Gilpho should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Qfc Challenger. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gilpho lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Gilpho enables Challenger to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Gilpho manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gilpho had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Challenger defends it easily.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gilpho can do anything to dispel that myth.

Challenger tries to free his leg and advance position but Gilpho is retaining full guard.
Challenger is fighting to break Gilpho's control of his arms but Gilpho is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
The crowd cheers as Gilpho lands an impressive looking overhand right. Challenger doesn't seem phased though.

Challenger has hold of Gilpho's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Gilpho tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Challenger cranks the arm and Gilpho screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Gilpho, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Thatch lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
