Suokuokka changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Parker looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Steel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake The Snake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steel comes to the cage accompanied by Kollegah - Bossaura. Jake The Snake struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 206.2lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vimes jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Vimes throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Vimes throws a series of punches but Shields avoids them all with ease.
Vimes throws a right and a left that both miss.
And Shields tries to counter it with a takedown but Vimes pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Vimes swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Shields.
Shields takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

It looks like Jake Shields has been cut.

Vimes does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Vimes buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Samuel Vimes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shields uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Vimes.
Shields changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Vimes seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
This has been an exciting period of action!

It looks like Frank Stevens has been cut.
Stevens moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Stevens has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Stevens moves into range and clinches up with Velasquez.
Velasquez drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Stevens gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Velasquez has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Stevens regains guard immediately.
Stevens working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Velasquez.
Velasquez postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Velasquez working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
Velasquez is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Oh Stevens is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Velasquez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Velasquez slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Velasquez is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Stevens is trying to escape and Velasquez transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Stevens is forced to tap! Nice work there by Velasquez! Very nice indeed!
