Well Mirkovic has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn scores with a jab to the head.
Volkov misses with an uppercut. Penn saw that one coming.
A quick step to the side and Penn tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Penn throws a head kick but Volkov moves out of range.
Volkov misses with a straight left.
Volkov scores with a jab to the head.
Penn fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Volkov on the side of the head.
Volkov sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Volkov throws the left hand but Penn avoids the punch easily.
Penn appears to be looking for a big counter.
Volkov throws a shot from downtown. Penn moves away and avoids it.
Penn keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Volkov gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Penn.
Penn has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Elite Fighting Temple in the buildup to the fight.
Penn lands a jab-cross combination.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Penn fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Volkov looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Volkov lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Penn scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Volkov will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Volkov throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Penn's waist but Penn gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Volkov off to one side.
Volkov takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
A looping hook to the body misses from Volkov. Penn does a little dance to reset his feet.
Volkov dives in for a single leg takedown but Penn sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes.

Penn was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

and Penn connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Penn lands with an overhand left.

Volkov is rocked!
Penn is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Penn cracks Volkov with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the ropes! Volkov falls to his knees and Penn doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jake Penn!

It looks like Monty Matthews has been cut.
Matthews shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Pandava as he jumps to the side.
Pandava wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Pandava digs a good body shot into Matthews's ribs.

Pandava feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Matthews sprawling to the canvas! Matthews rolls over backwards and springs off the ropes and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Pandava finish him?!

Matthews is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Pandava connects with a superb combination that knocks Matthews out cold! The referee charges across the mat and tackles Pandava before he can land any more shots to the unconscious Matthews!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Arjuna Pandava!
As Arjuna Pandava got his breath back, he grabbed the microphone and managed to blurt out the following: What is the use to us of an existence without heroic deeds, born as we are of an illustrious line?'.
