Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Brad Shaw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 5 - 2, fighting out of Hilo, Burley Haines!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Eddie Farnsworth and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Haines throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Haines misses with a jab to the body
letting Shaw counter with a right hand.
Haines misses with a looping left.
Haines throws a body shot but no joy.
Haines lands a right hook to the body.
Shaw rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Haines moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Good leg kick by Shaw there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Haines looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
A jab lands there for Haines.
Haines throws a leg kick

and Shaw counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Haines!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Haines dodges the ground and pound from Shaw.
Haines prevents Shaw from moving into mount.
Shaw is looking to take a break and control but Haines is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Haines is looking for a sweep.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Haines is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Shaw's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Shaw is controlling the pace.

Shaw is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Haines doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Shaw.
Haines moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Haines has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Shaw should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Haines has tightened it up now! Shaw should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Burley Haines!
Burley Haines was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
