Sharpe shoots in for a takedown but Giou shows good takedown defense.
Giou jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reaper tries to clinch there but Breaker circles away.
Reaper fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Breaker avoids it really well and circles away.

Reaper escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Breaker gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Reaper has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Breaker is working away from the top position though.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Samaras throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Daniels feints the counter takedown.
Daniels shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Samaras as he avoids it easily.
Daniels moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Lefteris Samaras seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Samaras lands with a shot to the body.
Samaras tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Daniels was well out of range. Poor timing from Samaras.

and Daniels counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Daniels working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Daniels throws a strike but Samaras avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Samaras definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Daniels is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Daniels drops back looking for a leg! Samaras is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Samaras manages to kick Daniels off! Daniels jumps back into Samaras's guard.

Daniels postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Samaras is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Daniels, into his guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Samaras swings for the body but Daniels moves out of range.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Daniels takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Samaras cracks Daniels with an uppercut from hell and Daniels crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Samaras's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!

Daniels is looking to cinch up a triangle. Samaras throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Daniels's body to avoid the submission. Daniels has instead reached around Samaras's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Daniels arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Giorgio is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Giorgio bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Giorgio connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Nice defenses there by Giorgio.
Giorgio slips under a jab from Romero.
Giorgio has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Romero throws a good cross that connects.
Romero feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Giorgios jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Giorgio has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Giorgio there as he acknowledges the shot.
Romero misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Giorgio moves away from the strike by Romero.
Giorgio looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Romero misses with an uppercut. Giorgio saw that one coming.
Giorgio throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Romero counters with a straight right hand.

Giorgio is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
and Romero counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Giorgio! He's just covering up as Romero starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!
