We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Cardoza has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Meida defending well as Clegane loads up on a big left hand.
Meida seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Meida is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Clegane moves out of range of the strikes.
Meida throws the left hand but Clegane avoids the punch easily.

and Meida connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Meida throws a jab when Clegane was well out of range.

Clegane lands a left and a right that send Meida crashing to the mat, dazed. Clegane thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Thiago Meida has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Clegane throws a right hand that Meida ducks under and follows up with a left that Meida also avoids with ease.
Oh Meida is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Clegane will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Meida seems to have got his legs back now.
Clegane throws a shot from downtown. Meida moves away and avoids it.
Meida throws a jab when Clegane was well out of range.
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Clegane has cracked Meida with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Clegane lands another huge swinging hook and Meida tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Meida, before Clegane can land any more shots!
