The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Graves doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Matos makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Matos fails with a takedown attempt.
Graves tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
We've been hearing reports that Matos has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Matos shoots in but no luck this time.
Matos tries for a takedown but Graves sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Graves can do anything to dispel that myth.

Matos changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Graves looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Matos bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Graves's guard.

Matos has control of Graves's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Graves regains control of the situation pretty easily.

He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Graves looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Matos! Submission of the night perhaps?

Karim walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Karim is trying to force a seperation but Joe has the dominant position.
Karim looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

John shoots in looking for a takedown. Sane tries to sprawl out of it but John keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sane manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A countering left hand to the body from Sane misses.

and Sane counters with a three punch combo that has John backing up. John nods at Sane to acknowledge the strikes.

John fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Sane, pushing him back against the cage.
